NYSC apologises over delay of October allowance of Corps members

The management of the National Youth Service Corps has apologised to Corps members over the delay in their payment. The management also gave reason for the non-payment of the October allowance. The NYSC stated these in a statement on its official Facebook page on Friday, November 3. “The Management of the National Youth Service Corps regrets the delay being experienced in the payment of personal allowance to Corps members. “Management wishes to inform Corps members and the rest of the public that funds have since been released by the federal government, but the delay is as a result of technical problems with the payment platform.” The NYSC said the problem will be resolved in a couple of days. “Service providers are working round the clock to restore connectivity so as to allow seamless crediting of Corps members’ accounts. Abdulrasheed Maina accuses the 7th Senate of aiding and abetting pension thieves

The embattled former chairman of the presidential task force on pension reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina, has accused the seventh Senate which was led by Senator David Mark of aiding and abetting pension thieves across the country. According to him, his case was that of corruption fighting back as the Senate favoured pension thieves. He added that that pension funds amounting to more than N3 trillion were trapped in 97 pension offices before he fled the country. This was contained in a letter dated June 19, 2015, which he wrote to the Senate shortly after he returned to the country from self-exile. The letter addressed to Senate president, Bukola Saraki was titled ‘Pension Reform Task Team: Appeal for Review of Investigation Probe by Senate Joint Committee on Establishment and Public Service and States and Local Government Administration 2011-2013. Buhari approves overseas treatment for Ekwueme

Garba Shehu, Senior special assistant on Media and Publicity to the president said that Buhari gave the order after he received brief on the medical condition of Ekwueme. He said the approval given by Buhari would cover the cost of chartering an air ambulance for the journey and the cost of his treatment. “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate medical treatment of former vice-president, Dr Alex Ekwueme, outside the country. “The approval followed a brief the president received Friday on the medical condition of the former vice-president. “The approval covers the immediate charter of an Air Ambulance for the emergency movement and the cost of treatment. “President Buhari prays that God will grant the elder statesman speedy recovery.”
